PIP Joint
The PIP joint, or proximal interphalangeal joint, is a hinge joint located in the fingers. It connects the first and second phalanges of each finger, allowing for bending and straightening movements. This joint plays a crucial role in hand function, enabling tasks such as gripping and pinching.
In each finger, there are two main joints: the MCP joint (metacarpophalangeal joint) at the base and the PIP joint in the middle. The PIP joint is essential for fine motor skills and overall dexterity, making it vital for daily activities like writing and typing.
