Oxlip
The oxlip (Primula elatior) is a flowering plant belonging to the primrose family, known for its attractive yellow flowers. It typically grows in damp woodlands and meadows across Europe, particularly in the UK. The plant can reach heights of about 30 centimeters and features clusters of flowers that bloom in early spring.
Oxlips are often confused with other primroses, such as the common primrose (Primula vulgaris) and the cowslip (Primula veris). They thrive in shaded areas and prefer moist, well-drained soil. The oxlip is also valued for its ecological role, providing nectar for various pollinators, including bees.
