Ottoman Interregnum
The Ottoman Interregnum refers to a period of civil strife in the Ottoman Empire that lasted from 1402 to 1413. This turmoil began after the defeat of Sultan Bayezid I by Timur at the Battle of Ankara, leading to a power vacuum. Several of Bayezid's sons, including Mehmed I and Isa, fought for control, resulting in a fragmented empire.
During this time, the empire faced internal conflicts and regional challenges, as various factions and local leaders took advantage of the instability. Ultimately, Mehmed I emerged victorious, reuniting the empire and restoring central authority, marking the end of the interregnum.
