Interregnum
An "Interregnum" refers to a period of time when normal governance is suspended, often occurring between the reigns of monarchs or during a transition of power. This term is commonly used in historical contexts, such as during the English Civil War, when there was no reigning monarch, and the Commonwealth of England was established.
During an interregnum, the absence of a clear leader can lead to political instability and uncertainty. Various factions may vie for control, and the lack of a central authority can result in social and economic challenges. Ultimately, an interregnum ends when a new leader or government is established, restoring order.
