Ottoman Constitution
The Ottoman Constitution was a significant legal document that established a constitutional monarchy in the Ottoman Empire. First promulgated in 1876, it aimed to modernize the empire's governance and limit the powers of the sultan, promoting civil rights and parliamentary representation.
The constitution was suspended in 1878 but was reinstated in 1908 during the Young Turk Revolution. This revival marked a period of political reform and increased participation in government, although the empire faced numerous challenges, ultimately leading to its dissolution after World War I.
