Orobanche
Orobanche is a genus of parasitic plants commonly known as broomrape. These plants lack chlorophyll and do not perform photosynthesis, relying instead on host plants for nutrients and water. They typically attach to the roots of their host plants, which can include various species of sunflower and legumes.
Broomrape species are found in many regions around the world, often in dry or disturbed habitats. They produce small, tubular flowers that can be white, yellow, or purple, depending on the species. Due to their parasitic nature, Orobanche can negatively impact agricultural crops by reducing yields.
