Cuscuta
Cuscuta is a genus of parasitic plants commonly known as dodder. These plants lack chlorophyll, which means they cannot perform photosynthesis. Instead, they attach themselves to host plants using specialized structures called haustoria, allowing them to extract water and nutrients.
Dodder plants are often thin, twining vines that can cover and overwhelm their host plants. They can be found in various habitats around the world and are known for their rapid growth. Some species of Cuscuta can significantly impact agriculture by weakening crops and reducing yields.
