Ordos Desert
The Ordos Desert is a vast arid region located in northern China, primarily within the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Covering an area of approximately 1,000 square kilometers, it is characterized by its sandy terrain, sparse vegetation, and extreme temperature variations, with hot summers and cold winters.
This desert is part of the larger Gobi Desert ecosystem and is known for its unique geological features, including dunes and dry riverbeds. The Ordos Loop, a bend in the Yellow River, borders the desert, contributing to its distinct landscape and ecological significance in the region.
