Onge
The Onge are an indigenous people residing on the small islands of the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal. They are part of the larger group of tribes known as the Great Andamanese and have a distinct culture and language. The Onge primarily rely on fishing, hunting, and gathering for their subsistence, living in harmony with their natural environment.
Historically, the Onge faced significant challenges due to outside contact, which led to a decline in their population. Today, efforts are being made to preserve their culture and language, while also providing them with access to modern healthcare and education, ensuring their survival in a changing world.
