Homonym: Ohio Buckeye (Nut)
The Ohio Buckeye, known scientifically as Aesculus glabra, is a tree native to the Midwestern United States. It typically grows to a height of 20 to 30 feet and features distinctive palmate leaves with five to seven leaflets. The tree produces small, yellow-green flowers in the spring, which develop into spiky seed capsules containing shiny brown seeds, often referred to as "buckeyes."
The buckeye seed is a symbol of the state of Ohio and is often associated with the Ohio State University sports teams, known as the Buckeyes. The tree thrives in rich, moist soils and is commonly found in forests and along riverbanks.
