Horse Chestnut
The Horse Chestnut is a large deciduous tree native to the Balkans but widely planted in parks and streets across Europe and North America. It can grow up to 75 feet tall and features large, palmate leaves with five to seven leaflets. In spring, it produces striking white or pink flowers that attract pollinators.
The tree is known for its spiky seed capsules, which contain shiny brown seeds called conkers. While the seeds are toxic to humans and pets, they are used in traditional medicine and as a natural insect repellent. The Horse Chestnut is also valued for its shade and ornamental beauty.
