OSIRIS-REx
OSIRIS-REx is a NASA spacecraft designed to study and collect samples from the near-Earth asteroid Bennu. Launched in September 2016, it traveled over 200 million miles to reach its target, arriving in December 2018. The mission aims to gather information about the formation of the solar system and the origins of life on Earth.
In October 2020, OSIRIS-REx successfully collected a sample from Bennu's surface, using a special arm to gather material. The spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth in September 2023, bringing back the samples for analysis, which will help scientists learn more about asteroids and their potential impact on Earth.
