Bennu
Bennu is a near-Earth asteroid that belongs to the Apollo group. It was discovered in 1999 and is approximately 490 meters wide. Bennu is of great interest to scientists because it is thought to contain organic materials and water, which could provide insights into the early solar system and the origins of life on Earth.
In 2016, NASA launched the OSIRIS-REx mission to study Bennu up close. The spacecraft arrived at the asteroid in 2018 and collected samples from its surface in 2020. These samples are expected to return to Earth in 2023, allowing researchers to analyze them for valuable information about the building blocks of life and planetary formation.
