New Horizons is a NASA space probe launched in 2006 to study Pluto and its moons. It made history in July 2015 when it conducted a flyby of Pluto, providing the first close-up images and data about this distant dwarf planet and its unique geological features.
After its successful encounter with Pluto, New Horizons continued its journey into the Kuiper Belt, exploring other celestial bodies. In January 2019, it flew by Arrokoth, a small object that offers insights into the early solar system. This mission has greatly expanded our understanding of the outer solar system.
