Northern White Rhinoceros
The Northern White Rhinoceros is a subspecies of the white rhinoceros, native to East and Central Africa. It is characterized by its large size, two horns, and a broad mouth adapted for grazing on grasses. Historically, these rhinos roamed across several countries, but their population has drastically declined due to poaching and habitat loss.
As of now, only two known individuals remain, both of which are female and live under protection in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. Conservation efforts focus on advanced reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization, to try to save this critically endangered subspecies from extinction.
