Northern Miwok
The Northern Miwok are a Native American group primarily located in northern California. They traditionally inhabited areas around the Sierra Nevada foothills and the Central Valley. Their culture is rich in traditions, languages, and practices, with the Miwok language being a significant aspect of their identity.
Historically, the Northern Miwok engaged in hunting, fishing, and gathering, relying on the natural resources of their environment. They lived in small, semi-nomadic communities and built structures known as bark houses. Today, efforts are ongoing to preserve their cultural heritage and language, as well as to promote awareness of their history.
