Ninth Crusade
The Ninth Crusade (1271-1272) was the last major military expedition of the Crusades, led by Prince Edward of England. It aimed to reclaim the Holy Land from Muslim control, particularly focusing on the city of Acre. The campaign was marked by a series of battles and skirmishes, but it faced challenges such as limited resources and political instability in the region.
Despite some initial successes, the Ninth Crusade ultimately failed to achieve its primary objectives. After a year of fighting, Edward returned to England, leaving the Crusader states vulnerable. This marked a significant decline in Crusader influence in the Levant.
