Night Terror
A night terror is a type of sleep disorder that typically occurs during deep sleep, often in the first few hours of the night. It is characterized by sudden episodes of intense fear, screaming, or thrashing, usually without the person being aware of it. Unlike nightmares, individuals experiencing night terrors often do not remember the episode upon waking.
Night terrors are most common in children but can also affect adults. They may be triggered by factors such as stress, sleep deprivation, or certain medications. Treatment often involves improving sleep hygiene and addressing any underlying issues that may contribute to the disturbances.
