Nicosia
Nicosia is the capital city of Cyprus, located in the central part of the island. It is the last divided capital in Europe, split between the Greek Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north since 1974. The city has a rich history, with influences from various cultures, including Byzantine, Ottoman, and British.
The old town of Nicosia is surrounded by well-preserved Venetian walls and features narrow streets filled with shops, cafes, and historical sites. Key attractions include the Selimiye Mosque, originally a cathedral, and the Cyprus Museum, which showcases artifacts from the island's ancient history.
