Famagusta
Famagusta is a city located on the eastern coast of Cyprus. It is known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and well-preserved medieval architecture. The city has been a significant trading port since ancient times and features landmarks such as the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque and the Othello Castle.
In 1974, Famagusta was affected by the division of Cyprus following a Turkish invasion, leading to a significant change in its demographics and governance. The city remains a focal point of the ongoing conflict between the Greek and Turkish communities on the island, with parts of it still under military control.
