Nicolas Guillen
Nicolás Guillén was a Cuban poet and journalist, born on July 10, 1902, in Camagüey, Cuba. He is best known for his works that reflect the struggles and culture of the Afro-Cuban community. His poetry often incorporates elements of African rhythms and Cuban folklore, making him a significant figure in Latin American literature.
Guillén's literary career began in the 1920s, and he became a prominent voice against social injustice and racism. He was also involved in politics, supporting the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro. Guillén received numerous awards for his contributions to literature, including the Cuban National Prize for Literature in 1958.
