Nguyễn Huệ
Nguyễn Huệ, also known as Emperor Quang Trung, was a prominent leader of the Tây Sơn Dynasty in Vietnam during the late 18th century. He is best known for his military prowess and successful campaigns against the Nguyễn Lords and the Qing Dynasty of China. His leadership played a crucial role in unifying Vietnam and establishing a brief period of independence.
Born in 1753, Nguyễn Huệ was a skilled strategist and a charismatic figure. He ascended to the throne in 1788 after a series of victories, including the famous Battle of Ngọc Hồi-Đống Đa. His reign, although short-lived, is celebrated for its reforms in governance and efforts to improve the lives of the common people.
