Tây Sơn Dynasty
The Tây Sơn Dynasty was a Vietnamese dynasty that ruled from 1778 to 1802. It emerged from a peasant uprising led by the Tây Sơn brothers—Nguyễn Nhạc, Nguyễn Huệ, and Nguyễn Lữ—against the oppressive rule of the Nguyễn Lords. The dynasty is known for its military successes, including the defeat of the Qing Dynasty forces during the Nguyễn Huệ's famous campaign in 1789.
The Tây Sơn Dynasty implemented significant reforms in governance, land distribution, and taxation, aiming to improve the lives of common people. However, internal conflicts and external pressures led to its decline. In 1802, the dynasty was overthrown by Nguyễn Phúc Ánh, who established the Nguyễn Dynasty.
