Nganasan People
The Nganasan people are an indigenous group residing in the northern regions of Siberia, particularly in the Taimyr Peninsula. They are part of the larger Samoyedic ethnic family and traditionally engage in reindeer herding, fishing, and hunting. Their lifestyle is closely tied to the harsh Arctic environment, which influences their cultural practices and social structure.
Nganasan culture is rich in oral traditions, including storytelling and shamanistic practices. The Nganasan language, a member of the Uralic language family, is spoken by a declining number of people, highlighting the challenges of cultural preservation in the face of modernization and external influences.
