Nenets People
The Nenets people are an indigenous group primarily residing in the Arctic region of Russia, particularly in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. They are known for their nomadic lifestyle, traditionally herding reindeer and relying on them for food, clothing, and transportation. Their culture is deeply connected to the harsh Arctic environment, and they have developed unique skills to survive in extreme conditions.
The Nenets speak the Nenets language, which belongs to the Uralic language family. Their social structure is organized around family groups, and they maintain rich traditions, including storytelling, music, and dance. Despite modern influences, many Nenets continue to practice their traditional ways of life, balancing cultural heritage with contemporary challenges.
