Neelkanth (God)
Neelkanth is a form of the Hindu god Shiva, known for his blue throat. The name "Neelkanth" translates to "blue throat" in Sanskrit, which refers to a significant event in Hindu mythology. During the churning of the ocean, or Samudra Manthan, Shiva consumed the poison that emerged to save the universe, and to prevent it from causing destruction, he held it in his throat, turning it blue.
As a symbol of sacrifice and protection, Neelkanth is revered by many devotees. He represents the idea of taking on suffering for the greater good. Temples dedicated to Shiva often feature images of Neelkanth, and he is worshipped during various festivals, particularly Mahashivaratri.
