Nayanars
The Nayanars were a group of 63 Tamil poet-saints who lived between the 6th and 9th centuries in southern India. They are revered in the Shaiva tradition for their devotion to Lord Shiva and played a significant role in the Bhakti movement, which emphasized personal devotion over ritualistic practices. Their hymns, known as the Tevaram, express deep love and devotion to Shiva, contributing to the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu.
