Tevaram
Tevaram is a collection of Tamil devotional hymns composed by three prominent saints: Appar, Sambandar, and Manikkavacakar. These hymns, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, date back to the 7th to 9th centuries and are considered some of the earliest examples of Tamil literature. The verses express deep devotion and are often sung in temples during worship.
The Tevaram forms a crucial part of the Shaiva tradition in Tamil Nadu, influencing both religious practices and Tamil culture. It is recognized for its poetic beauty and spiritual depth, contributing to the Bhakti movement that emphasized personal devotion to God.
