Naxalism
Naxalism is a radical leftist movement in India that seeks to overthrow the government through armed struggle. It originated in the late 1960s in the village of Naxalbari, West Bengal, and is inspired by Marxist-Leninist ideology. The movement primarily aims to address issues like poverty, land rights, and social injustice faced by marginalized communities.
The Naxalite groups, often referred to as Naxalites, operate mainly in rural areas and are known for their guerrilla warfare tactics. They have been involved in violent conflicts with security forces and have gained control over certain regions, leading to significant challenges for the Indian government in maintaining law and order.
