Nawal El Moutawakel
Nawal El Moutawakel is a retired Moroccan athlete, best known for her achievements in track and field. Born on April 15, 1962, she made history by becoming the first woman from an Arab nation to win an Olympic gold medal. She achieved this milestone in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
After her athletic career, El Moutawakel became involved in sports administration and advocacy.
