National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah)
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah), often abbreviated as NSCN(IM), is a separatist group based in the northeastern region of India. Founded in 1980, it aims to establish a sovereign state for the Naga people, who inhabit parts of India and Myanmar. The group is named after its leaders, Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah, and has been involved in peace talks with the Indian government to resolve the longstanding Naga conflict.
The NSCN(IM) advocates for the rights and identity of the Naga people, emphasizing self-determination and autonomy. The organization has a significant following among the Naga population and has been a key player in the political landscape of the region. Its activities and negotiations have drawn attention to the broader issues of ethnic identity and regional autonomy in India.
