Nasiruddin al-Tusi
Nasiruddin al-Tusi was a prominent Persian scholar, philosopher, and astronomer who lived during the 13th century. Born in 1201 in the city of Tus, he made significant contributions to various fields, including mathematics, astronomy, and ethics. Al-Tusi is best known for his work in developing the Tusi-couple, a mathematical model that improved the understanding of planetary motion.
In addition to his scientific achievements, al-Tusi played a crucial role in the establishment of the Maragheh Observatory in Iran, which became a center for astronomical research. His writings influenced later scholars in both the Islamic world and Europe, making him a key figure in the history of science.
