Nasir al-Din Tusi
Nasir al-Din Tusi was a prominent Persian polymath born in 1201 in the city of Tus, located in present-day Iran. He made significant contributions to various fields, including astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, and ethics. Tusi is best known for his work in astronomy, particularly for developing the Tusi-couple, a geometric model that helped explain planetary motion.
In addition to his astronomical achievements, Tusi wrote extensively on philosophy and logic, influencing later scholars in the Islamic Golden Age. He served as a key figure in the Ilkhanate court, where he established an observatory in Maragheh, further advancing the study of celestial bodies.
