NGC_1986
NGC 1986 is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Lepus. It is situated approximately 1,200 light-years away from Earth and is part of the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. The cluster contains several bright stars and is known for its relatively young age, estimated to be around 100 million years.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1986 is often studied for its stellar population and dynamics. The cluster's stars are primarily of spectral types B and A, indicating their high temperatures and brightness. Observations of NGC 1986 contribute to our understanding of star formation and evolution in open clusters.
