NGC 1986
NGC 1986 is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Lepus. It is situated approximately 1,200 light-years away from Earth and is part of the Lepus constellation, which is visible in the southern sky. The cluster contains several bright stars and is estimated to be around 100 million years old.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1986 is notable for its relatively young age compared to other star clusters. It is often studied by astronomers to understand stellar formation and evolution, as it provides insights into the characteristics of young stars in our galaxy.
