NGC_1987
NGC 1987 is an open star cluster located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834 and is situated approximately 163,000 light-years from Earth. The cluster contains several young, hot stars and is estimated to be around 100 million years old.
The cluster is notable for its bright blue stars, which are indicative of its youth. NGC 1987 is often studied to understand stellar formation and evolution in different environments, particularly in comparison to clusters found in the Milky Way.
