NGC 6861
NGC 6861 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 80 million light-years away in the constellation Telescopium. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834 and is notable for its bright core and well-defined spiral arms.
This galaxy is classified as a type SBc, indicating it has a prominent bar structure and loose spiral arms. NGC 6861 is also part of a group of galaxies known as the Hercules Cluster, which contains several other galaxies and is of interest to astronomers studying galaxy formation and evolution.
