NGC 6863
NGC 6863 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius. It is approximately 3,000 light-years away from Earth and is known for its bright, colorful appearance, which is a result of the ionization of gases surrounding a dying star.
The nebula was discovered by astronomer William Herschel in 1786. It has a central star that is in the late stages of its life cycle, shedding its outer layers and creating the intricate structures seen in the nebula. Observations of NGC 6863 contribute to our understanding of stellar evolution and the life cycle of stars.
