NASA's Parker Solar Probe
NASA's Parker Solar Probe is a spacecraft designed to study the Sun's outer atmosphere, known as the corona. Launched in August 2018, it aims to gather data about solar winds and magnetic fields, helping scientists understand solar activity and its effects on space weather.
The probe travels closer to the Sun than any previous spacecraft, reaching speeds of up to 430,000 miles per hour. By making multiple close approaches, it collects valuable information that can improve predictions of solar storms, which can impact satellites, power grids, and astronauts in space.
