Parker Solar Probe
The Parker Solar Probe is a NASA spacecraft launched in August 2018 to study the Sun's outer atmosphere, known as the corona. It aims to gather data on solar winds and magnetic fields, helping scientists understand solar activity and its effects on space weather. The probe will make several close approaches to the Sun, coming within 4 million miles of its surface.
Equipped with advanced instruments, the Parker Solar Probe will measure temperature, plasma waves, and energetic particles. This mission is named after astrophysicist Dr. Eugene Parker, who proposed the existence of solar winds in the 1950s, paving the way for modern solar research.
