Mzilikazi
Mzilikazi was a prominent leader and founder of the Matabele Kingdom in present-day Zimbabwe. Born around 1790, he was originally a lieutenant under the famous Shaka Zulu but later broke away to establish his own kingdom. Mzilikazi led his people, known as the Ndebele, on a series of migrations, ultimately settling in the region around Bulawayo.
Under Mzilikazi's rule, the Matabele Kingdom became known for its military strength and unique culture. He implemented a centralized government and fostered trade relationships with neighboring communities. Mzilikazi's legacy continues to influence the history and culture of the Ndebele people today.
