Myanmar Military
The Myanmar Military, also known as the Tatmadaw, is the armed forces of Myanmar. It consists of the army, navy, and air force, and is responsible for the country's defense and internal security. The military has played a significant role in Myanmar's politics, especially since the country gained independence in 1948.
Historically, the Tatmadaw has been involved in various conflicts, including civil wars with ethnic armed groups. In February 2021, the military staged a coup, overthrowing the democratically elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. This action led to widespread protests and international condemnation, further complicating the nation's political landscape.
