Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN)
Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) is a group of rare genetic disorders that cause tumors in multiple endocrine glands. These tumors can be benign or malignant and often affect the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, and parathyroid glands. MEN is classified into different types, with MEN type 1 and MEN type 2 being the most common.
Individuals with MEN may experience symptoms related to hormone overproduction, leading to various health issues. Early diagnosis and management are crucial, as treatment often involves surgery to remove tumors and regular monitoring for new growths. Genetic counseling is recommended for affected families.
