Mudflow
A mudflow is a type of landslide that occurs when water-saturated soil and debris flow down a slope. This mixture can include rocks, vegetation, and other materials, making it heavy and fast-moving. Mudflows often happen after heavy rainfall, rapid snowmelt, or volcanic activity, where the ground becomes unstable.
These flows can be dangerous, as they can travel quickly and cover large areas, damaging property and infrastructure. Areas prone to mudflows are often monitored for signs of instability, especially in regions with steep terrain or recent wildfires, which can increase the risk of mudflows.
