Motor Neurons
Motor neurons are specialized nerve cells that transmit signals from the central nervous system to muscles throughout the body. They play a crucial role in controlling voluntary movements, such as walking, writing, and speaking. When a motor neuron sends a signal, it causes the corresponding muscle to contract, enabling movement.
There are two main types of motor neurons: upper motor neurons, which originate in the brain and send signals to the spinal cord, and lower motor neurons, which extend from the spinal cord to the muscles. Together, these neurons ensure that our movements are coordinated and purposeful.
