Moro People
The Moro People are a group of Muslim communities in the southern Philippines, primarily located in the regions of Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and crafts. The Moro population is diverse, consisting of various ethnic groups such as the Maranao, Maguindanao, and Sama.
Historically, the Moro People have faced challenges related to colonialism and conflict, particularly with the Spanish and American colonizers. Today, they continue to advocate for their rights and autonomy, seeking to preserve their cultural identity and improve their socio-economic conditions through initiatives like the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
