Bangsamoro
The term "Bangsamoro" refers to a region in the southern Philippines that is predominantly inhabited by the Bangsamoro people, a group of Muslim communities. This area includes parts of Mindanao, Palawan, and the Sulu Archipelago. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) was established in 2019, granting greater self-governance and autonomy to the region.
The creation of the Bangsamoro region followed decades of conflict and negotiations between the Philippine government and various Muslim groups, including the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The BARMM aims to promote peace, development, and cultural identity for the Bangsamoro people while addressing historical injustices.
