Mopane
Mopane is a type of tree native to southern Africa, particularly found in countries like Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. It is known for its distinctive butterfly-shaped leaves and can grow up to 20 meters tall. The tree thrives in dry, sandy soils and is well-adapted to arid climates.
The wood of the Mopane tree is dense and durable, making it valuable for construction and furniture. Additionally, the tree produces edible caterpillars, known as mopane worms, which are a traditional source of protein for local communities. Mopane forests also support diverse wildlife, including elephants and various bird species.
