Monk Seal
The Monk Seal is a type of earless seal found in warm coastal waters. There are three species: the Hawaiian Monk Seal, the Mediterranean Monk Seal, and the Caribbean Monk Seal, which is now extinct. Monk seals are known for their rounded bodies, short flippers, and whiskered faces. They primarily feed on fish and invertebrates.
These seals are social animals, often seen resting on beaches or rocky shores. They are considered endangered due to habitat loss, hunting, and entanglement in fishing gear. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations and habitats.
