Mon community
The Mon community is an ethnic group primarily found in Myanmar and Thailand. They have a rich cultural heritage, including their own language, known as Mon language, which belongs to the Mon-Khmer branch of the Austroasiatic language family. The Mon people are known for their traditional crafts, including weaving and pottery, as well as their unique festivals and religious practices.
Historically, the Mon community played a significant role in the region, establishing the Mon Kingdom in the 9th century. They are predominantly Buddhist, and their culture reflects a blend of indigenous beliefs and influences from neighboring cultures. Today, the Mon community continues to strive for cultural preservation and recognition within the broader societies of Myanmar and Thailand.
